Divorce, bereavement, PTSD, anxiety, depression, and imposter syndrome have all been in my life, and in the past 5 years they have hugely affected my ability to function day to day, whether it be my personal or work life. I tried numerous different types of counselling - face to face, online, even typed sessions - but always found myself slipping back to old habits, thoughts and feelings.
When I discovered mindfulness, it really did feel like someone had flicked the switch in my mind. It made sense. It wasn't about going over past events and finding someone to blame - that wouldn't have done me any favours. It was about accepting my thoughts and feelings, not pushing things away. Living in the present moment, being grateful for it and not judging everything based on preconceptions.
I'm a certified mindfulness practitioner and teach the Mindfulness Now programme by The UK College of Mindfulness Meditation which is approved by the British Psychological Society and look forward to bringing mindfulness to as many people as possible through my Your Future Mindful course programmes.
